I was originaly called by this new homeowner for furnace trouble. The furnace was installed improperly. It did not have enough heat runs installed, plus it was sized wrong! Too many BTU'S for the house. The furnace was also installed in an confined space with no combustion air provided. It was running on Hi Limit all the time because it could not get rid of the heat.
The Home Inspectors must have seen the new furnace and said, "New furnace, all good!"
I noticed the electric service from my van on my first visit to this house. It just didn't look right. After a closer look, somebody cut off the mass, ran the service entrance wire down the mass through the roof into the attic, back out of the attic through the roof and then into the main circut panel None of this is to code! National Grid would have never hooked this up like this. So the person who did this must have made his own conections. Notice I did not call him an electrican!
My point is to be careful when hiring a home inspector, This property was inspected by two so called Home Inspectors; one for the buyer and one for the seller. I am wondering what exactly these inspectors are doing for their customers? You can see the bare wires on the weather head from the ground. In the middle picture above you can see the entrance wire has no cover on it at all.
